Blogging

Hey there! Notice anything different with my blog? (that is if you're a regular here)

I finally worked on the header portion and got it figured out and looking half-way decent, not perfect, but like the saying my sweet hubby quotes to me frequently, "It's good enough for the girls I go with", I hope all you gals (& maybe a few guys) can go with it.

I have been trying to learn more about blogs and what to do and what NOT to do. I'd say that I'm about half way there on what to do, and mostly there on what not to. I guess that's better than being the other way around, don't cha think? {hee hee..*snort!}

You probably have also noticed that I've added some advertising on here also. The way I see it, if I'm gonna spend any chunk of my day on my blog, I'd like to earn a little bit for doing so. After all, nobody else is paying us to be here, right? I do enjoy reading lots of other blogs and working on mine. I'm trying harder to make it a little more interesting to check it out at least a few times a week, and if you're lucky, I'd like to get something on here every weekday. That's something I'm gonna have to work up to though, so be patient with me. I'm a procrastinator and/or an un-finisher (my new word), which ever comes first.

I learned a pretty simple way to add the text to the header that I grabbed off of The Cutest Blog On the Block (TCBOTB) that goes with the winter background I have right now.

If you're at all familiar with the Graphics Fairy, did you know she has blog backgrounds too? Cool ones! (of course they are) I may not even have this current winter set up for long, since I found one of hers that's suiting my fancy. I'm kinda ADD, so I have a tendency to change my blog around more frequent than most. I should put that kind of time into cleaning my house, or fixing it up or working on projects!  ;^)

Anyway, to add the text to a banner, Background Fairy gave some very easy to follow instructions on how to use Picnik to tackle this seemingly daunting task. It's not a difficult program to figure out on your own as it is, but for those that prefer a little hand holding, she's there for ya!

Click on the image here to take you to that post.
I'm still learning how to get those handy dandy buttons across the top that will take you back to my blog Home page and  some others. I started to get it figured out, but then I was trying to find some nice buttons that would set my blog apart from just the average rectangles, and that's where I got stuck. I would love to know some sites that might have some cool looking (free) ones to choose from.  Please leave me a comment with the website if you know of any. I'd really really appreciate it!

Just so you know, I've learned a few things from the Blogging Tip Link party over at I Gotta Create. Some of them just tell you what is good & not good to have in your blog, and that is great information to know, but if you do that, please be kind enough to share HOW to go about getting us to that point. Please don't take offense to this request, but it's kind of like telling someone who lives in Maine to drive to California for the first time, but you don't give them a map on how to get there. Make sense? I know, directions take time, just ask most men. hee hee!

Oh, and while we're at it, I'd love a little feedback on what to do with my own blog here. I know I still have some tidying up to do on some old content in my sidebars, but to me, it's like cleaning out your closets, you know it would be best if you did, but it's not important to your everyday function and so you kinda blow it off. It will happen....someday.

While I don't consider myself one who can give much direction on how to create a great blog by any stretch of my imagination, I think the link to Background Fairy's post on creating Banner Text is a good little tidbit of info for us amateurs and so I'm linking this post over at I Gotta Create.

God Bless and have a great day!
