Another Family Sign-Altered

I managed to get the Family sign completed yesterday. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but still think it needs something around the "F", but I'm leaving it alone before I mess it up in trying to "fix" it. I feel better about getting it done and I'll feel even more better when I can finish up the graduation mini album that's waiting for me next.

It's not like we aren't having the perfect weather to work on these projects. We got a cold blast yesterday that brought about 4 inches of snow overnight. That's not very much by our standards, but the wind will make me want to stay inside! I know my Canadian friends are probably chuckling right now, but to be honest, it doesn't snow around here like it did when I was a kid. We've had milder weather here in the southern Lake Michigan area for so many years now. I seriously think they should rezone us from a 5 to a 6 for planting conditions. There's been times over the last few years that the south has gotten more snow than us and we're in a Lake Effect snow area where we can get snow just by the way the wind blows off the lake when no one else does.

This photo was taken yesterday about an hour after it started snowing. There's a bit more there now, but still nothing to write home about, even though Brooke was happy to know that she got to sleep in because of a two hour delay this morning.

There is quite a bit more snow just to the north of us around the Indiana/Michigan state line, and they're expected to get more today because of the lake effect. Most times we're just a little too far south for it to reach us, unless the wind is more out of the north. THEN, we can get hammered!

Enough about that four-letter-word now. Let's have a look at this word instead. I like the word itself and mostly like how I finally managed to alter it. It was a special order from my husband's boss' wife, however, I'm not sure if it will have enough rustic-ness to it for her or not. It almost looks wedding-like to me, but I still think it might work. I tried to add some vintage looking touches to it with the truly vintage buttons and beige lace. The script writing on the paper and script embossing hopefully add to the look I was aiming for. The tulle in the center of the "M" is kind of what makes it look more formal to me, but I love the effect it gives and decided to keep it. I'm just hoping she likes it.

In case there are questions about what the FONT is at the bottom, it's Chocolate Box or something like that. I know Chocolate Box is free at dafont.com.

And some other close up features of the sign.

Sorry if that last image was a little blurry, but I was playing around with these in Picnik (didn't notice that one wasn't quite right). It's a fun little photo editing program that has lots of free features in it and if you want to really go all out, there's some extra fun features that you can get by purchasing the Premium pkg. that is like barely over $2 a month! It's more like $25 for a whole year. I'm saving for Disney later this year or else I might just be looking at buying that, but for now, I'm good with the standard version. This might be the ticket for those of us who have been brave enough to buy PhotoShop, but not brave enough to get it mastered.

I'll be linking up to these parties:

God Bless and have a great day!

Your sign is stunning, I love it!!!!
We are near the lake and we always get screwed as to the "Lake Effect"...I just assume its an excuse for the weather man to be wrong, lol.
We have had very little snow here compared to every other year....Lake Superior hasn't even froze yet....mind you today was -20C. To cold for my blood.

Hi Beth, I am chuckling because we just got dumped on and it's cold and miserable. Yes, I'm Canadian, living just across the International Bridge at the top of Michigan. We are used to it but I still don't care for all this snow, especially as we usually have it for four/five months. Anyway, I absolutely adore your FAMILY sign. You did a wonderful job and it looks just perfect to me and doesn't need another thing, but that's just my opinion. I would leave it alone. Thanks for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today Chris! My son keeps telling me we need to move to Canada, and I would love to, except that the winters are just too long for me there. I'm already further north than I want to be. LOL!

I'm glad you liked the Family sign. The woman who ordered it said she LOOOOVED it and said it was perfect. You guys are making me feel good about it! ;^)
