It's been such a LOOOOOONG time!

I can't believe the whole summer has gone & I haven't posted anything here! It has been one busy, yet fun summer though!!

We have finally got to use our pool this summer with all the hot & humid weather we've had, but all the rain still caused us to still not use it as much as we would have liked. It was still much better than last year.

One project that finally had some progress made after being "in process" for 2 years now was a garden shed. My husband, Alan, started this project for me 2 years ago after getting fed up with all my gardening paraphernalia creating a hindrance for him getting into his truck in our somewhat small garage. The shed didn't hardly cost us anything since he gets 4 ft. wall sections free from his job. He works for a manufactured housing seller & the factory makes these walls for delivering the house sections to the home site. Once the house is set, they throw these things away! He has also gotten the shingles & OSB sheets free as well. All I had to do was buy the treated lumber, windows, paint & the door. I also have a screen door for it that I got for free, but hubby is still in the process of getting the regular door modified for the vintage knob I found at the Habitat for Humanity store. We found a huge green stone that looks like a step on one side, so that is my front step onto the porch & since there is a cluster of large stumps to the left, DH moved some HUGE rocks that were free from our neighbors & built an oversized planting circle around the tiny little dogwood. I also have a barn door on the other side of the shed that you can see, but the guy selling the door told me I had to take the odd ball bottom half too. So, Alan cleverly thought of making it into a sort of decorative section of fence. I found those darling metal flowers at a discount place not far from here. I hope to decorate the fence for the different seasons. Sounds like an excuse to go shopping, if you ask me! (*snicker!!)

This is what it looks like so far. Ok, the blue is quite a bit brighter than I was going for, but after my 2nd attempt of trying to make it right, I said forget it & lets roll with it. I also wanted to use tan paint for the trim instead of the white, but Alan said that we have plenty of white paint already & we're not buying more paint! Well, guess what? We ran out of white paint half way through the project & had to get more anyway. Oh well, I'll probably be repainting the shed in 10 years anyway, so I'm sure the colors will change by that time. This shed had to be moved with the assistance of our back ho too & that was quite the undertaking as well. There were several trees that had to be cut down & stumps removed first. So, as you can tell, this summer has been all about this shed. LOL!! I was hoping for a more rustic look, but I also like the shabby chic look too & I think this definitely fits the bill there!

I know this post is already getting long, but I have to post about today being my daughter's first day of school. Yesterday was my son's first day & he is a Senior this year. That's about as exciting as it gets for him. LOL! My daughter on the other hand, was SOOOOO excited to be starting First grade today. I don't think she slept much at all. She had to wear her new Sketcher's Twinkle Toes shoes, that was a MUST along with wear a skirt! She is my girly girl, with a bit of Tomboy too. I was that way as a child too, but I was too much Tomboy to be allowed to wear too many dresses, if ya know what I mean... ;-)

On top of all this, I've been making crafts in preparations for my craft shows that I participate in during the fall. I also have some commissioned work too (YAY!!). I've also made gifts for family members & friends too, so I have just been keeping really busy. Now, we're getting ready for a garage sale this weekend, that is so desperately needed. I'm not sure just how we still have so much junk!! Actually, I have about 10 totes of just clothes & shoes that just don't seem to sell. They're in great shape & not priced nearly as high as I've seen at many sales. They're going this year, one way or another.

Well, that's it for the update! Hopefully, now that school has started & I'll have more time for myself, I can keep this blog updated more regularly.

And Thanks Andrea for check-in, you're such a sweetheart!!!

God Bless & have a great day!!
